Fundraising
To fulfil the ambitions we held for this wonderful, exciting adventure, ‘Auslan – Now and Then’ – 100 years of the Western Australian Deaf community, we needed to gather and find funds to ensure that our vision came to reality.
WAAD (Western Australian Association of the Deaf) and ASLIA WA (Australian Sign Language Interpreting Association WA), both being not for profit organisations have always had a strong fundraising ethic, without which neither would be able to provide the support for its members. Without the reliance upon the goodwill and commitment of their Boards and members many of their events would not be able to take place.
Therefore the ‘Auslan – Now and Then’ sub-committee began looking for suitable grants from government and non-government agencies and arranged raffles for social and professional development events that had been arranged from the beginning of this year. These fundraising efforts are ongoing and we welcome contributions and donations from people who are also interested in preserving the amazing and inspiring history of the Deaf community in WA.
